The Summit is a new one-day partnership event presented by the Tennessee Association of Floodplain Management and the Tennessee Stormwater Association. Our goal is to bring together floodplain and stormwater professionals in order to create a better understanding of the permit responsibilities and how they can work together in the future.

This presentation will provide an overview of current TDEC Division of Water Resources tools and requirements that support effective stormwater and aquatic resource protection at the local level. Topics include updates to the Construction Stormwater (EPSC) Handbook, recent and upcoming changes to the Construction General Permit (CGP) and related compliance expectations, and an introduction to water resource protection frameworks used in Tennessee permitting. The session will also highlight the Tennessee Rapid Assessment Method (TRAM) and the Wetland Screening Tool explaining how these tools are applied to evaluate impacts to streams and wetlands and inform mitigation decisions.

This presentation will present the fundamentals of Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA), a powerful tool that couples risk analysis with economic analysis to help governments and utilities understand if a project will reduce enough risk to justify their investment. Attendees will learn ways to leverage BCA to support alternatives analysis, to make informed decisions about their risks and fiscal investments, and to garner support from individuals, communities and decision-makers for flood risk reduction projects.
